Thomas King is on faculty at Brandeis University, where he doubles as associate professor and associate director of graduate studies of English. His research interests include early modern English drama and social performance, 18th-century British studies, performance studies, queer studies, and gender studies. He is the author of numerous publications, including “The Gendering of Men: 1600-1750” (The University of Wisconsin Press, 2004 and 2008), a two-volume exploration of normative and queer masculinities of the 17th and 18th centuries. King’s writings have profoundly shaped gay and gender studies, as well as the study of theater and performance history.
