Panel Discussion: Storch Theatre (following the 3:00 performance in the Archbold Theatre)
Lebanese-Canadian playwright Wadji Mouawad’s Scorched follows twins Jeanne and Simon as they journey to the Middle-East to unravel the mystery of their recently deceased mother’s life during wartime in her homeland. Why did their mother Nawal exile herself to silence in the last five years of her life? In conjunction with its production for Scorched, Syracuse Stage hosts a panel discussion moderated by Syracuse University English professor Carol Fadda-Conrey, joined by Prof. Dana Olwan (SU),Neelika Jayawardane (SUNY Oswego), and Aisha Musa (Colgate University). The panel will focus on issues and ideas regarding Middle Eastern women in war. The discussion will include a Q&A with the audience.
